Welcoming a New Year with Purpose, Gratitude, and Vision

KenCrest CEO Aurora Kripa looks back on a year of impact with gratitude and shares a hopeful vision for what’s ahead.

As we welcome in a new year, I’ve been reflecting on all that KenCrest accomplished over the past year, and I do so with deep gratitude, pride, and optimism. Stepping into the role of CEO, I am keenly aware of KenCrest’s 120-year legacy and the responsibility that comes with leading an organization so rooted in service, compassion, and community.

What inspires me most is not only where we’ve been, but the people who make our mission real every single day.

This past year, KenCrest continued to grow by staying true to what has always guided us: listening closely to our community and responding with care, creativity, and purpose. Across programs and services, our teams worked tirelessly to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism, strengthen partnerships, and fostering environments where inclusion and respect are more than values; they’re daily practices.

Some of the most meaningful moments from this year are reflected in the stories that resonated most with our community because they center on real people and real lives.

One such story shared the life and legacy of Ronnie, who found a true sense of belonging after moving into a KenCrest community home and chose to leave a legacy gift so others could feel that same support. In our Meaningful Day program, we saw how friendships can grow in everyday activities, like Chucky and Logan, who formed their own bowling team, the Beef Cake Bowlers, building confidence and joy through weekly games and the encouragement of their mentor; and Barry, who found friendship at the local library and turned it into shared adventures, including a visit to a local farm. We also highlighted the heart of Lifesharing through the story of Cindy and Ron, who illustrate how Lifesharing can create deep, family-like bonds over many years, bringing people into homes and hearts in ways that transform daily life and nurture lasting relationships.

Behind every achievement are real people and real progress, and those moments are the true measure of our success.

Equally important is ensuring KenCrest remains strong and sustainable for the future. Transparency and thoughtful stewardship of resources allow us to continue serving individuals and families for generations to come. As we look ahead, my vision for KenCrest is both ambitious and grounded. I believe deeply in collaboration, accessibility, and staying connected at every level of the organization. The people doing the work every day often have the clearest insight into what’s working and where we can improve, and I am committed to listening and learning alongside you.

In the year ahead, we will focus on strengthening teamwork, investing in innovation, and continuing to adapt to the evolving needs of the individuals and communities we serve.

None of this would be possible without the incredible people who make KenCrest what it is today. To our staff, thank you for your dedication, compassion, and resilience. To the individuals and families, we support, thank you for your trust and for inspiring us every day. And to our partners, donors, and community members, thank you for standing with KenCrest and believing in our mission.

I am honored to serve this organization and excited about what we will continue to accomplish together. As we move into the new year, I look forward to building on our strong foundation, honoring our history, and shaping a future where everyone feels supported, valued, and connected.

With gratitude and optimism,
Aurora Kripa
