KenCrest is proud to celebrate the 10th Annual Community Champions Awards on Wednesday, September 10th, at the Valley Forge Casino. Each year, this event honors individuals and organizations who go above and beyond to support the KenCrest community—not for financial contributions, but for the meaningful impact of their actions and their selfless commitment to others.
These Champions—whether volunteers, business partners, or advocates—embody the spirit of KenCrest’s mission: to support community development by exploring possibilities, mobilizing resources, and empowering dreams. Their efforts remind us that it takes a whole community—including you—to bring this mission to life.
At last year’s 9th Annual Community Champions Awards, 12 winners and 14 honorable mentions were recognized for their extraordinary service:
Here is how they became Champions:
Carolyn Boxmeyer was honored for donating hundreds of handmade quilts each year to children and adults in need, demonstrating compassion and consistency.
Sana Garner was recognized for founding the Creative Movers Playgroup, creating inclusive play spaces inspired by her son’s experience with cerebral palsy.
Christine Patrone was celebrated for leading inclusive volunteer efforts at Real Church, supporting individuals in KenCrest’s Chester County Residential Program.
Janeal Murrey was honored for welcoming two sisters into her home through Lifesharing, offering them stability and a sense of family after losing their parents.

Senator Bob Casey was recognized for championing disability rights through legislation like the ABLE Act and its expansion.
Arnold Mickey was celebrated for his person-centered care as a Certified Nursing Assistant, helping a nonverbal individual feel safe and empowered.
Christine Knotwell was honored for her decade of Lifesharing, especially her support of Michael in building independence and community connection.
Coach Julie Potter was recognized for her inclusive fitness work at the YMCA and for founding the Special Needs Adults Social Club.

Ana Rosa Garcia was celebrated for her volunteer work at the Lehigh Early Learning Center, supporting staff and promoting cultural pride.
Bryers Funeral Home was honored for decades of compassionate end-of-life care, often stepping in when families could not.
Jessica Zander was recognized for creating sensory-friendly farm experiences through Helping Friendly Farm for children in KenCrest’s Birth to 5 program.
Shane Vagnarelli was celebrated for his work as a clinical behavior specialist, helping individuals with intellectual disabilities achieve personal goals with empathy and dedication.
These Champions exemplify the heart of KenCrest’s mission. We look forward to celebrating even more inspiring stories at this year’s milestone event.
