Some leaders create change through legislation. Others, through listening and collaboration. Representative Joe Ciresi of Pennsylvania’s 148th District has worked to bring together diverse perspectives in Harrisburg to support initiatives that strengthen communities across the Commonwealth.
Throughout his career, Rep. Ciresi has focused on policies that promote opportunity and independence for Pennsylvanians. His work on equitable education funding, transportation infrastructure, and community inclusion has involved collaboration across sectors and among colleagues from multiple backgrounds.
At KenCrest, Rep. Ciresi has been a valued partner in advancing the use of enabling technology—tools that empower people with disabilities to live more independently. After visiting KenCrest’s SMART Tech Home in Pottstown, he expressed strong interest in the role technology can play in improving accessibility and quality of life. He has participated in events with KenCrest to highlight how innovation supports greater choice, autonomy, and inclusion.
One of his recent areas of focus has been supporting efforts to modernize Pennsylvania’s policy on assistive technology, including addressing the state’s longstanding $10,000 lifetime cap. Working in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS), the Office of Developmental Programs (ODP), and fellow legislators, discussions are underway on potential updates that could take effect as early as 2026.
At KenCrest’s 10th Annual Community Champions event, we were honored to recognize Representative Ciresi for his ongoing support of initiatives that promote accessibility, equity, and independence. His partnership demonstrates how collaboration between public leaders and community organizations can help create a more inclusive future for everyone.
