I Want to Start a Movement: Innovation is Our Middle Name

On June 6, 1926, Philadelphia hosted the Second World Fair, otherwise known as the Sesquicentennial International Exposition, to celebrate the 150th signing of the Declaration of Independence. During this fair, Dr. Isador Kauffman from the Kensington Dispensary and a member of the Phipps Institute exhibited the history of the care provided at the dispensary. Our exhibit was near the entrance to the Palace of Education and Social Economy and showcased the advancements we made in caring for those with Tuberculosis. Pictures of the exhibit even appeared in the Inquirer! The article celebrated the advancements made in care and the reduction in the death rates in the city.

We have kept the spirit of innovation going all these years. Innovation has brought many changes. You can now read about many of them on our website.

We are still trying new things. Sometimes it makes it to the Inquirer. Other days, watch our social media!
