On September 10th, KenCrest celebrated its 10th Annual Community Champions event — an evening dedicated to recognizing individuals and organizations who go above and beyond to create stronger, more inclusive communities. Among this year’s honorees was a name that represents both legacy and heart: Jack Bienenfeld and his family’s company, Henry Bienenfeld and Sons.
For generations, the Bienenfeld family has been known throughout Philadelphia not just as landlords, but as neighbors — people who understand that real community doesn’t stop at property lines. Jack, in particular, has embodied this philosophy time and again, stepping in with care and compassion whenever one of his tenants faced hardship.
When a KenCrest tenant began to struggle after the loss of his brother, Jack didn’t look the other way. Instead, he reached out directly to KenCrest and Adult Protective Services, ensuring the tenant received the right support and care. On more than one occasion, he’s personally intervened to make sure people had what they needed—proving that empathy and action can coexist in the business world.
Jack’s quiet acts of kindness remind us that community partnership isn’t about contracts—it’s about connection. Through his leadership and the ongoing commitment of Henry Bienenfeld and Sons, he has helped redefine what it means to be a landlord, a neighbor, and a friend.
KenCrest is proud to honor Jack Bienenfeld and Henry Bienenfeld and Sons as true Community Champions, whose compassion and dedication help create a world where everyone belongs.
