Throughout KenCrest, those we support continue to adjust to a ‘new normal’ way of life and get more comfortable with wearing their masks throughout their daily routines. Recently Cindy and Katherine (and Big Bird) learned how to make and decorate their own masks. We’ve learned—just like with all things in life,—when trying new things , they’re always less scary and more fun with friends! Keep rocking your masks proudly ladies!
Creating environments that embrace inclusion and active family involvement, have been core values of KenCrest’s culture and mission for over a century. COVID -19 placed our organization in a very challenging position, and we can’t recall a time in our history where we’ve ever limited community participation, or family and friends from visiting their loved ones. Although the pandemic is not over, we are doing our best to create a safe environment for those we support and our staff; while we are preparing for our reintegration into the community, and for family and friends to start visiting again.
Our new family visitation policy will take effect on June 22nd, 2020 and may be revised at any time—based on guidance from state authorities, health departments, and at our agency’s discretion. Please take a moment to review letters from our Executive Director of Health Services Rose Kehoe regarding visitation in Pennsylvania and Connecticut programs, as well as a copy of our visitation protocol that you’ll be asked to sign off on upon your first visit with your family member.
The pandemic hasn’t stopped us from celebrating birthdays; it’s only made them even more special, and made us more creative! From drive-by’s to drop-off’s, KenCrest makes sure that each birthday celebration is just as amazing and wonderful as the people we support. Happiest of birthdays to Skip and Curtis!
When the coronavirus shut down schools and day cares across the Philadelphia area, many of the families in our Early Learning Centers faced unexpected financial burdens—including the increased cost of food for their households. Several weeks ago our Early Learning Center staff were able to begin mobilizing resources and deploying out teams to start delivering a weeks’ worth of breakfast and lunches to the ELC children who need them. With nearly 1,000 children served by KenCrest’s ELCs—it’s no small effort to hand deliver so many meals, but 100% worth it! To date we’ve delivered over 47,000 meals to over 500 families! Shout out to our amazing staff, and a huge thank you to our food vendor Betty The Caterer!
Tracy, a resident of the Children’s Transitional Program celebrated her graduation from high school on Tuesday. Congratulations to the Class of 2020!
Despite the humid weather, the ladies of Bridlepath spent the morning re-potting their new flowers and favorite plants!
