KenCrest’s very own Annette and Don Hanks, won the Excellence in Lifesharing Award for the Southeast Region at the 2017 Pennsylvania Lifesharing Conference that took place on Oct. 16-17. Annette and Don have been Lifesharing providers for Kathy Warren for 27 years. They first met Kathy when Annette worked at Kathy’s community living. Annette and Don are very family-oriented and wanted to welcome Kathy to join their existing family of two sons (which now includes five grandchildren). At the awards banquet, Kristen Fritzinger, KenCrest Lifesharing coordinator, read the nomination she wrote for the Excellence Award to an audience of over 300 Lifesharing families and providers from across the state. Annette gave a heartfelt speech expressing appreciation for all that Kathy has meant to her and her family. Nancy Thaler, Deputy Secretary for the Office of Developmental Programs, was in attendance and realized she had worked with Kathy many years ago, and she tearfully expressed her gratitude toward the Hanks family for being part of the wonderful life Kathy has.
