World Down Syndrome Day was celebrated yesterday. To raise awareness, the world-wide suggestion was to wear crazy socks. Folks at Harvest Drive got into the spirit! It was a easy thing to do to create conversation around the hopes and dreams of people with Down Syndrome and their families. I believe it is more then often the spirit, not the logic, which moves us to action. We need to encourage the development of the spirit as we look to the future.
I encourage you to watch this video, Dylan’s Dream. A young man with Down syndrome and his mom talk about his dream. This video would make most people rethink their assumptions and ask more questions around discovering abilities and putting them to work in the world.
What do you think about Dylan’s Dream? What does this mean to our work? Let me know your thoughts.
