What is KenCrest?

KenCrest is a 112-year-old non-profit, Lutheran affiliated human services agency that is one of the largest providers of community-based services and supports in the Delaware Valley for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities and autism. Headquartered in Blue Bell, PA we serve more than 11,100 children, adults, and their families in 400 locations in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Connecticut.

What is KenCrest's Mission Statement?

KenCrest exists to ensure that all people who have, or are at risk of having, intellectual disabilities and autism can live well in their communities, earn the respect of others, and control their own lives.

What are the ages of the people KenCrest serves?

KenCrest serves people of all ages, from newborns and school-aged children through adults in their senior years.

Where is KenCrest located?

What is KenCrest’s Lutheran affiliation?

Sister Maria Roeck, a Lutheran deaconess, founded what is now known as KenCrest, in the mill district of Philadelphia in 1905, under the name of “Kensington Dispensary”.

In 1955 another Lutheran deaconess, Sister Grace Jones led the agency as it redirected its mission. It was then we began serving people with intellectual and other disabilities.

Over the years, many of our programs have been housed in Lutheran churches, many of our volunteers have come from Lutheran congregations, and many times we have partnered with other Lutheran organizations to provide new services.

KenCrest is an active member of Lutheran Services in America (LSA), the largest network of human service agencies in the United States, with 325 members from all 50 United States and the Virgin Islands.

How can I volunteer at KenCrest?

KenCrest has many volunteer opportunities for both individuals and organized groups. You can volunteer directly for the people KenCrest serves, or for a range of events and activities that support our mission. Volunteer now!

KenCrest accepts donations in several ways. You can give to KenCrest directly, or through United Way, or through Lutheran Charities Appeal. You can donate online, via postal mail.

KenCrest is our nearly 2,000 staff. Our employees have voted KenCrest “Best Places to Work” finalist four years in a row in Philadelphia Business Journal and Philadelphia Inquirer.
