Transition Services

Everyone struggles with the transition from school to adult life and work. For those with disabilities and their families, the change is even more challenging.

Intellectual disabilities. Developmental disabilities. Autism. KenCrest will help you.

We will help you prepare for the transition from school to work. We will help you find work placements. We will provide post-secondary education and training. And we will help you find living options for your son or daughter.

We will direct you to the resources that are available for a wide variety of transition services. Remember, when students reach 14 years old, transitioning becomes a part of their IEPs. You may want to start planning even earlier.

•  Stay in touch with your Case Manager or Supports Coordinator and be sure you have an active file even though you may not be receiving services right now
•  Be sure that your IEP includes age-appropriate experiences such as job shadowing, on-job experiences, trips on public transportation, recreational, and social opportunities.
•  You have options. KenCrest provides employment services, residential options, and supports at home. Learn about those services on this website, and discuss them with your Case Manager or Supports Coordinator now.
•  Plan for a potential service gap between school and services.
