Jacob Mason greets all customers and friends of KenCrest with a big smile and gentle handshake as they enter the Seeds of Purpose store in Pottstown. He is eager to share what he does to make this place so special.
Seeds of Purpose is a small horticultural training and therapy program for people with developmental disabilities. The individuals grow flowers, herbs, and vegetables, and create handcrafted ceramics which are sold locally in the store. Jacob is a 23 year old man with autism. He is one of 20 adults who are supported by this program.
“Jacob transition from school to working here is a success story, says Robin Ward, site facilitator for the program. In his free time, Jacob also volunteers at the Growing Center, another horticultural training program. “I like plants. I like growing plants, Jacob says proudly, “I like watching them grow.
