Public Policy Awareness
KenCrest has established a Public Policy Awareness Program under the guidance of a joint team of Board members and staff. The mission of the program is to develop among elected officials visibility, understanding, acceptance and support for people with developmental disabilities.
The Public Policy Awareness Team is developing strategic, back-home relationships with elected officials and other people of influence. They are visiting the back-home offices of the elected officials, inviting them to visit KenCrest program facilities, providing them with printed information, and linking them to this website.
The objectives of these visits are:
- To establish KenCrest name recognition among the elected officials whose districts we serve.
- To establish awareness among elected officials about the ways that people with disabilities and agencies like KenCrest can make their districts economically and socially more vibrant and better places to live.
- To serve as a resource to elected officials on issues that affect KenCrest and the people we serve.
It is the vision of the Public Policy Awareness program that elected officials will turn to KenCrest for information and insight about public issues that impact the lives of people with developmental disabilities.
