Bike & Walk for Lutheran Charities on June 28th

Join the 18th Annual Lutheran Charities SteepleChase Bike Ride on Saturday, June 28, 2008. The event benefits eight Lutheran social service agencies, including KenCrest. Tour roads through scenic Montgomery County starting at St. John Lutheran Church in Center Square or take part in the Fun Walk & Ride on the trail starting at Lower Perkiomen Valley Park in Oaks. Features include well-marked routes, well-stocked rest stops, lunch, and T-shirts for all participants. There is a ride, walk and distance for all skill levels. The mission of Lutheran Charities is to provide opportunities for individuals and congregations to participate in ministries that meet human need through the various social ministries of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. KenCrest’s affiliation with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America dates back more than 100 years. We are one of eight Lutheran Charities organizations serving over 25,000 people in southeastern Pennsylvania and the state of Delaware:

Artman Lutheran Home 

Founded in 1916, Artman Home provides residential, assisted residential, and supportive care as well as long-term nursing care and rehabilitation services. A growing part of Artman’s ministry is its Becoming Center, a health and wellness center open to people of all ages, featuring a variety of services that enrich and extend life. Artman Home is an affiliate of Liberty Lutheran Services.

KenCrest Centers

The largest Delaware Valley provider of community-based service to children and adults with developmental disabilities, KenCrest serves more than 6,500 people each year. During the last century KenCrest has pioneered services for medically fragile infants, preschool children with developmental disabilities, and high school students with disabilities transitioning to adult life.

Lutheran Children & Family Service


Lutheran Children & Family Service (LCFS) offers a variety of services including foster care, adoption, services to children in their own homes and after-school programs. It plays a major role in refugee resettlement and care of unaccompanied refugee minors. LCFS is an affiliate of Liberty Lutheran Services.

Lutheran Settlement House


Lutheran Settlement House (LSH) meets the needs of more than 18,000 children, adults, and families each year through integrated social, educational, and advocacy services, including: LSH Bilingual Domestic Violence Program, the LSH Community Education & Employment Department, LSH Senior Center & Services, and homeless services including case management support for families living in transitional housing.

Manatawny Manor


Manatawny Manor is a nursing and assisted living facility offering long-term care options including skilled nursing care, personal care, adult day care, respite and hospice care. The nursing center and assisted living special care units are designed exclusively for individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease and other related dementias. Manatawny Manor is an affiliate of Diakon.

The Mary J. Drexel Home


For over a century, the Mary J. Drexel Home has provided personal care and nursing care to older adults, including long-term care and associated support services. The Home helps older persons live with dignity by meeting their physical, spiritual, and social needs.

Paul’s Run Retirement Community


Paul’s Run offers a variety of living arrangements for older adults in Northeast Philadelphia. It has more than 200 independent living apartments and provides assisted living as well as nursing and rehabilitation service. Paul’s Run is an affiliate of Liberty Lutheran Services.

Silver Springs-Martin Luther School 

 
Silver Springs-Martin Luther School provides a home, education and clinical services for children, many of whom have experienced abuse, neglect, or other traumas. The School offers residential treatment, special education, and community-based services, as well as case management, direct assistance, scholarships, housing and employment assistance for children and families.


Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod Evangelical Lutheran Church in America


The Synod serves 174 congregations in the five-county Delaware Valley Region. Funds from Lutheran Charities are used to provide grants to support congregations and organizations, working on programs for community development and initiating needed, helping ministries.
