Social Transition Activities for Relationship Transformation
KenCrest provides 10-week courses throughout the school year for youth and adults with autism.
The START Program
10 – 12 people in each group
- Each group is led by credentialed and experienced consultant
- Each group meets once a week for 10 weeks (schedule varied depending on need)
- Each workshop includes three group socialization activities in the community
- Each participant receives a social skills evaluation at the end of the workshop
- Each participant receives a notebook to use for future activities/relationships in real-life situations
Goals
- Increase social skills
- Establish relationships
- Improve ability to maintain relationships
- Directed practice in social boundaries, reading social cues, social etiquette
- Implement strategies to avoid unsafe or risky interactions
