KenCrest takes an active role in advocating for the rights and protections of people with disabilities. We believe that the barriers between and among people are creations of human nature and we will advocate for the needs of those we serve and for the elimination of labels that separate people.
KenCrest also believes that a positive, supportive environment, based on the equitable interchange among people, offers the greatest opportunity for realizing the human potential of all people, including those of us who have a developmental disability.
Our Board of Directors and staff are involved in a Public Policy Awareness program, and they take leadership roles on issues such as self-determination, transitioning, Medicaid, and the waiting list.
We are a founding member of Lutheran Services in America -Disability Network, a national network of faith-based agencies that serve individuals with mental retardation and developmental disabilities. This network includes 15 member agencies providing services for more than 12,000 people with disabilities in 27 states. Together, these organizations reach across the country to share successes and expertise in developing high quality, individualized services. To better serve, the members have established partnerships with one another to link resources and skills.
