OCTOBER IS LIFESHARING AWARENESS MONTH!!!
Krystle and Sonia Karble- a great KenCrest story.
Excellence in Lifesharing Southeast Region Award Winner and will be honored at a luncheon on 10/18 at Millersville University.
Krystle had been living in foster care for many years and was graduating from high school. She was fed from a g-tube since she was 2 years old. She came to our program initially very thin and anxious. Sonia Karble and her daughter, Sydney, immediately hit it off, and Krystle moved in with them in December of 2008.
Sonia worked with Krystle to get her taken off the g-tube and be able to eat food for nutrition. This included daily treks to her day program at lunch time to feed Krystle lunch. Krystle also had debilitating seizures and had 1-1 staff at her program for this issue. As Krystle gained weight, her seizures became less severe and less frequent. Krystle gained about 30 lbs since she came to life with Sonia in 2008, and is now at a healthy weight for her height. Today, Krystle feeds herself and will let you know if she is hungry as well.
Sonia has also been a great advocate for Krystle in many ways. She has reunited Krystle with her birth family and invited them all for Christmas when Krystle moved in. None of Krystle’s siblings drive so Sonia went & picked them up for her holiday function. Krystle’s father, Melvin, passed away in December, 2012, and Sonia took Krystle to the funeral. Krystle and her siblings get together to celebrate Krystle’s birthday every year and usually make connections at other times as well. Sonia and Krystle share a beautiful connection and truly love each other.
